Beer #137 - Cliff Quay Around the Horn

This was another post-five-a-side-football pint at the Compton Arms and another Greene King ‘collaboration’ with a fellow Sussex brewery. As with my previous post on the Greene King/Mauldons collaboration I haven’t been able to find anything about this beer online. The Cliff Quay brewery was founded in Ipswich in 2009 by Jeremy Moss (formerly head Brewer at the Wychwood brewery) and John Bjornson. What with the cold weather I thought that a deep chestnut ale sounded pretty good. The beer poured a dark ruby red. It was incredibly smooth drinking, too smooth for my taste. The flavour however was good, a light spiciness and the slightest caramel hint. It wasn’t packed full of flavour but what was there was nice.

Brewery: Cliff Quay Brewery / Greene King Collaboration
Country: United Kingdom
ABV: 4.2%
