After couple of pints in the Jerusalem Tavern my friend and
I tired of being crammed in like sardines and headed off in search of somewhere
quieter. After a bit of a wander we had a look in the
Gunmakers, just off
Clerkenwell Road. Mercifully it looked quiet but more importantly, they had a
number of decent beers on offer. First up I went for a pint Yakima Gold from
Crouch Vale, an Essex Brewery. My limited experience of beers from Crouch Vale has been good and this was no exception. It pours a lovely clear straw and the amarillo hops that this is brewed with give it a lovely grassy earthiness. The hops are forward in this one and it tastes wonderfully fresh with a bit of grapefruit, yet its not overpowering and is exceedingly drinkable. A good brew this one.
