Some spare time in north London recently led me to calling in at Beavertown for a beer. I went for Applelation, a bramley apple saison. Beavertown first brewed this in 2013 as Barley Champagne but a complaint from the Champagne Association (seriously) resulted in a name change. This was certainly quite different - a dry saison with a slight tartness from the apples and some bitter toffee but no sweetness. Its quite woody with a big dry, boozy finish. A bit out there for me, I struggled with the dryness and its 8.7% ABV wasn't as well masked as I'd like.
Brewery: Beavertown Brewery
Country: United Kingdom
ABV: 8.7%
