An impromptu trip to the always-excellent Dovetail in Clerkenwell gave me an opportunity to try a couple of new Belgian beers. First up I went for the classic Saison Dupont which, needless to see, was as good a saison as I've ever had. As you can see it poured a golden colour with an ever so slight haze. The aroma had that typical Belgian yeast with a bit of wheat and banana. In the mouth it is crisp with some lovely wheaty grassy flavours along with some gentle pepper and some refreshing fruitiness. It is somehow clean and dry yet very drinkable, very well balanced indeed.
