This beer was once the strongest in the world. Originally brewed in Switzerland by Hurlimann, it is now brewed under license in Austria. The beer is brewed but once a year and aged for 10 months before being released. This was the last beer on the Whole Foods festive beers tasting list and by this point I was pretty worse for wear. Ideal time to crack open a 14% doppelbock, then! This stuff is absolutely crazy, very sweet and syrupy, almost like a dessert wine. It was so far out of my frame of reference that I don't think I can review it properly.
