Beer #286 - Heavy Industry Collaborator

Another pint at the Old Red Lion on Saturday night and one from a Welsh brewery. Heavy Industry is a microbrewery based in Henllan, North Wales with a ten barrel capacity and, as yet, no website (although they do have a Facebook page). This beer is described as a best bitter but it is one that packs a decent punch and is fairly complex. It pours a dark reddish brown with a tan head. The aroma gives you a hefty hit of the dark malt character with dark fruits and raisins with a hint of spice, it smells almost like bara brith with a side of alcohol. In taste its more of the same, full-bodied and dominated by the malts (it's brewed with Maris Otter, crystal and chocolate malts) which gives it a dark, rich fruity flavour with hints of dark chocolate. I liked this one a lot - a good malt forward bitter with a bit of a twist and plenty of flavour.

Brewery: Heavy Industry
Country: United Kingdom
ABV: 5.0%
