Beer #29 - Ashes Ale

Another cricket-themed beer following my post on CottageBrewing's Boundary a few weeks ago, Marston’s Ashes Ale was a much more enjoyable ale. As far as I can tell, Ashes Ale was launched during the 2005 Ashes test series and has reappeared during every series since then as the brewery have looked to cash in on Englands recent success, the current incarnation available during July and August of this year. As I sunk this one on Friday England were struggling in the 4th test so I wasn’t sure it was the best time to drink it, however they turned it around on Monday and ended up winning the test series thanks to an incredible performance from Stuart Broad. This is a very solid and enjoyable English ale and seems to be available just about everywhere, so well worth keeping an eye out for (particularly if you’re near a Morrison’s supermarket where I’ve spotted it on offer).

Brewery: Marston’s Beer Company
