Beer #106 - Brixton Effra Ale

Brixton Brewery opened its doors for the first time just a couple of weeks ago. Shortly after it launched its first three beers I picked up a bottle of Effra Ale in Brixton market. Like some other brewers in London, Brixton Brewery have given their beers names that relate to the local area. Effra Ale is named for the River Effra, a subterranean or 'lost' river of London that flows near the brewery. The beer itself is pretty good. It pours an interesting murky brown which had me slightly concerned but the flavour was good. It's malty with some nice fruity hints. Fans of London's big hoppy brewers might not find too much to be excited about with Effra Ale but I really liked it and will be looking to try Brixtons other two beers soon.

Brewery: Brixton Brewery
