After narrowly missing out on a pint of this as they changed
a cask on my previous visit to the Compton Arms I was pleased to find that it
was still available last Wednesday. I’m a big fan of
Dark Star and was keen to
try this. Brewed with Cascade and Centennial hops and a specially-imported
American yeast strain the brewery have gone all out to capture the essence of
an American pale ale. As you’d expect it’s a bitter, grapefruit beer and
notably dry. It is however a bit lighter than many beers of this type and I found
it pretty drinkable despite my recent complaining about overly-hoppy American
style beers.
Brewery: Dark Star Brewing Co.
Country: United Kingdom
ABV: 4.7%
