Beer #118 - Ilkley The Norseman

Another post-work pint with colleagues at The Castle, this was by far the most interesting looking of the pump clips. It was so delicious that one pint turned into three and I’d probably have managed a couple more if I didn’t have to meet friends elsewhere. The Norseman is an interesting and unusual spruce beer. The spruce is clearly evident in the taste and it’s very herby with a bitter finish that is pretty wonderful. It also says a lot for British beer at the moment that I keep discovering more and more new breweries that I’ve not tried or even heard of before, and yet they’re making great beer. Ilkley Brewery was opened in 2009 and seems to have built an excellent reputation and if I spot any of their beers elsewhere I will be drinking them!
