This is yet another one from my Wednesday night
post-football beers at The Compton Arms in Islington. As per usual I opted for
the guest ale (it’s a Greene King pub) which on this occasion was Cotswold Spring’s Old Sodbury Mild. I wouldn’t ordinarily drink a mild on a warm evening
in late May but I’m glad I went for this one. It pours a deep dark brown and has
a pleasant sweet malt aroma with hints of earthiness. It’s light on the palate with
some lovely bitter chocolate and sweet caramel malt and some feint smokiness,
really delicious and probably my new favourite mild.
Brewery: Cotswold Spring Brewing Co.
