Beer #253 - Redemption Big Chief

Another cracking guest beer at The Compton Arms this week. I wouldn't ordinarily go for a coupleof pints of a 5.5% beer on a school night but similarly, I wouldn't turn down the chance to try a new beer from Redemption that often either. This cask IPA pours a hazy golden colour with some white head. The nose is bitter citrus fruits with a hint of spiciness too. It's quite full-bodied with plenty of bitter grapefruit, bitter orange with a rather dry finish. There is some caramel malt in there too and it's quite a well-balanced brew. Three or four years ago this probably would have been held up as a superb example of the style but with the number of brilliant, fresh IPAs in circulation, it becomes merely a very good beer.

Brewery: Redemption London
Country: United Kingdom
ABV: 5.5%
