Beer #288 - Clarkshaws Gorgon's Alive

I recently moved to the Denmark Hill/East Dulwich area and to within 5 minutes of the home of Dulwich Hamlet Football Club. As a result I’ve been to a couple of their matches in recent weeks and they’re making an extraeffort to get some decent local beers into their supporters bar. On Tuesday night I went along and they had a cask of Clarkshaws Gorgon’s Alive served from on top of the bar by gravity dispense. Superb! Clarkshaws is an independent microbrewery based in East Dulwich, meaning that the beer had travelled for a matter of minutes to reach the football club. This is a really good golden ale, brewed with (plenty of) Challenger and Progress hops that give it a nice zesty flavour. It pours a slightly hazy golden colour with a slight, off-white head. The nose gives some grassy and citrus notes with some malty biscuit in there too. The flavour is nice and hoppy; fruity and fresh tasting with some nice caramel in there too, very well-balanced.

Brewery: Clarkshaws
Country: United Kingdom
ABV: 4.0%
