Beer #395 - Kuche Kuche

My girlfriend generously lugged this hefty bottle of Kuche Kuche back from Malawi for me a few months ago, which allowed me to tick off another African country in beer terms. Unfortunately the beer itself was little short of horrific. I've drunk  lot of mass-produced lager over the years but none of it has come close to being as bad as this. It was overly sweet, not surprising given the listing of sugar and 'local starch' as additional ingredients, but it was the horrible plastic flavour that put me off and I simply couldn't stomach it. Interestingly my girlfriend and friends that tried it didn't think it was that bad, but I poured the majority of it away.

Beer #359 - Tusker Lager

Tusker lager is a macro-brew from Kenya, brewed in the capital Nairobi. My girlfriend travels a lot with work, usually to some interesting places, and she will invariably bring me back a beer or two. This is a pretty generic lager - sweet and malty - I can't say I particularly enjoyed drinking it but I do quite like the design of the can and it's a new country for the blog!
