Beer #36 - Samuel Smith’s Organic Chocolate Stout

A friend brought a bottle of Samuel Smith’s Organic Chocolate Stout to dinner on Sunday evening for me try, hailing it as a good drop. This beer was an absolute revelation to me. It’s got a beautiful smooth chocolatey flavour that isn’t too heavy, nor too sweet. It succeeds at tasting both like chocolate and like beer in the best possible way, I really can’t recommend it more highly. Sam Smiths is well known to Londoners as one of the best (and only) places to get a cheap pint in the capital. Fiercely independent, the brewery operates over 300 pubs that sell only Sam Smiths branded food and drink. Not only that but its pubs tend to be interesting, well-kept and unique and if you haven’t been to one before I suggest you rectify that immediately. Whilst my experience is limited to London the brewery also operates pubs across the north of England (its base is Tadcaster, Yorkshire) and takes pride in maintaining pubs in some of the most deprived areas of the country.

Brewery: Samuel Smith Brewery
