Saturday nights drinking was topped off with a bottle of
Robinson’s Old Tom. This is a strong ale at 8.5% ABV and it packs a lot of
flavour into a 330ml bottle. It is however very nicely balanced and I found it
surprisingly drinkable given the strength. This is heavy on the malts but in
the best possible way, they are rich and toasted giving plenty of warm, caramel
flavour. There is also plenty of fruitiness and a hint of smokiness going on
here too. I really enjoyed this and would definitely drink it again.
