Beer #163 - Wood's Christmas Cracker

This one was a Christmas gift from my girlfriends parents and very gratefully received. Wood's Brewery is a family owned enterprise that began brewing in Shropshire in 1980. Now in my experience a lot of Christmas beers in the UK are pretty much a waste of space. Breweries bang out a generic bitter and stick a Christmas-y label on it and away it goes. The same cannot be said of this Wood's brew, thankfully! It pours a lovely deep, dark copper and is lovely on the nose with a bit on winter spice evoking the festive season. The body is perhaps a bit thinner than anticipated but the flavour is robust with some lovely fruitiness and some lovely toffee malt on the finish. I enjoyed this one very much indeed.
