Another one at the Queens Hotel in Kandy, this time AnchorSmooth, another lager. This is brewed in a variety of locations across Asia
including China, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore and Sri Lanka and now
that I think about it I’m 98% certain that I had the Cambodian version when I
was there a couple of years ago. Anchor Smooth is not a good beer. It pours a
pale straw and is very light in the body. It has a sweetness to it that comes
with a substandard Asian lager and suggests poor ingredients. On the plus side
it was served very well chilled, but I wasn’t tempted to try this one again on
my holiday.
