Beer #189 - Belhaven Grand Slam

This is another from last Wednesday at the Compton Arms, after my pint of Trooper I thought I'd give Belhaven's Grand Slam a try. For the uninitiated this a sports themed beer brewed in honour of the Six Nations Rugby tournament. Belhaven is a Scottish brewery which claims to have been brewing since the early 18th Century. It was taken over by Greene King in 2005 but has retained its own brand since then. My experience with sports themed beers has been average at best. The formula tends to be to simply brew an average bitter, stick a sports themed pump clip on it and hope it sells while people are watching the sport. This was little different, it was by no means bad, just a solid English bitter, malty with a hint of sweetness.

Brewery: Belhaven Brewery
Country: United Kingdom
ABV: 4.0%
