Beer #207 - Redemption Hopspur

Another new London brewery for the blog. Redemption is a ‘craft ‘brewery’ based in North London and although it was only established in 2010 it does feel like it’s been around for a lot longer. Hopspur is part of the brewery’s core range and is a hoppy amber ale and is a SIBA Gold Medal winner. I had this one at the Coach &Horses in Soho, a pub with a lot of character and a lot of original features. As for the Hopspur, its hoppy on the nose with citrus fruit aromas. The flavour is grapefruit and lemon initially with a strong malty follow through that lends the beer quite an odd and almost overpowering sweetness. On the whole it was quite drinkable but the balance between hop and malt just seemed a little off to me.

Brewery: Redemption London
Country: United Kingdom
ABV: 4.5%
